Carrie Fisher's dog

Gary – Carrie Fisher’s orphaned dog – greeted guests arriving to memorialize his mistress and her mother. He is missing them, too….

UPDATE: On Friday 01/06/17 a private funeral for Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher (the Hollywood Dynasty’s mother and daughter who died only a day apart) was held at the Hollywood Hills’ Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The ceremony brought together the family, friends and their famous Hollywood peers.

Carrie Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher shared that the family didn’t know what container to use for Carrie’s ashes. In the end it was decided that an item she cherished – which also represents her sense of humor – is most appropriate. What was the item? A container – replica of a giant Prozac pill.

The loving mother and daughter were interred together. In Todd Fisher’s words, “they were together here and now they are together in Heaven.”

The two stars were laid to rest in a close proximity to Bette Davis and Liberace memorials. A public memorial service is planned and will be announced in a near future.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher rest in peace. Their artistic legacies are here to stay.

On Thursday 01/05/17 Hollywood’s who–is-who gathered for a private memorial service for Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. Among the 200 mourners were Meryl Streep, George Lucas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Meg Ryan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courtney Love and Ellen Barkin. They honored the memory of both stars and comforted Fisher’s brother Todd Fisher and her daughter Billie Lourd.

A larger memorial service and a funeral in the Hollywood Hills’ Forest Lawn Memorial Park, is scheduled for tomorrow. According to reports – no official statement was released by the family so far – actress Meryl Streep, who portrayed Carrie Fisher in a film based on Fisher’s semi-autobiographical novel “Postcards from the Edge”, is to give the eulogy. A section for the public will be reserved for the ceremony. The reports are unconfirmed.

Mother and daughter who were best friends and died just one day apart will be laid to rest together. Debbie Reynolds wished to be buried. Carrie Fisher wanted to be cremated and was. Reynolds’ remains will be buried with a part of Fisher’s ashes.

To most of us, Debbie Reynolds’ death was a case of a mother’s broken heart and that much more devastating. Her son Todd however finds solace in the fact that the two are together, again. He’s likely right. It might have been too painful for Debbie Reynolds as a mother, to be left behind and suffer from the separation from her daughter.

May both stars, mother and daughter, rest in peace. May their family find comfort in our grief which confirms how much both were loved.
